Guys’ Night Out/ Hotel Rwanda

I wanted to blog about my day yesterday last night but was too tired to do so. Here it goes… Met up with Boss, MarkC and Mr Vile for dinner last night at Fish & Co. @ The Glasshouse (aka LOVE). Had Swordfish Collar which was delightfully big for a change and I was glad that for once I had not stuck to what I was comfortable with. Had a nice dinner, nice company. Then decided to play pool at Paradiz. Played doubles and paired with MarkC and we beat the Josephians 5-2. I don’t believe I’ve ever played as well as in the 1st game where I pocketed like 4/5 balls in a row with the white ball placed quite well. It was fun! Then went to Rochor Road Beancurd to eat Tau Hway! It was good…conversation was interesting too. You know you have good friends when they try to rationalize your nonsensical statements:
Me: You like coins?? Getting in touch with your feminine side??
*Silence*
Boss: Err…coins are feminine cos they Jingle?
MarkC: Err…cos they are glittery?
Oh well…it was nice company…good time…

Lame joke for yesterday –
Sis: Why are there so many knots on your scapula?
Me: Oh…cos I’m very naughty (knotty)!

HOTEL RWANDA
Caught this wonderful movie jus now with Yas at Lido...fantastic movie I tell you...gonna get the DVD when it comes out...this one is for the keeps...I love such documentary-kinda movie esp since its based on real life. What's more I covered the conflict between the Hutu and Tutsi in my Geopolitics mod back in yr1 sem1 with kes, markC n gang...the movie left me with so much emotions...I really felt that I was gonna burst out crying at times...I was constantly at the edge of my seat wondering what the hell was gonna happen next...I was filled with hatred and contempt for the UN..for those bastards in the US govt again for not wanting to intervene cos there was no benefit in doing so (unlike in the oil-rich Gulf)...for a world that would only watch passively as 800,000 rwandans were massacred in cold blood...thousands of children made orphans...hundreds of women raped...arg...f***!! how can ppl hate each other so much that they do these kinda things?? oh well...
think you guys should catch the movie if you can...it should be worth it...I leave you guys with the quote we used in my grp project on Rwanda: The Machete War...
"There are no devils left in Hell. They are all in Rwanda."
- A Roman Catholic missionary, quoted in Time, 16th May 1994.

no comments. Singapore helps those in aceh cos' it goes inline with our strategic purposes to protect the Straits of Malacca. and also to portray power across to indonesia. Man help others, to placate human consciousness.. to make us feel better. For the rawanda case... unless it affects the individual directly, it doesn't really matter does it? - ian the skeptic

IanY: Hey dude...well ya tt's kinda my point...it's like if ppl help cos it affects them directly then its not altruistic and kinda conditional liaoz...we shd not just watch passively cos it doesnt affect us directly right? not saying tt I would actually be the noble one who helps though...

IanM: haha...ya the more 'handsome' one...k shdn't be a probz...its not very long though...heh... :) when u want to see it? when u're in sci canteen? ;)
